#5029 2.4x5.3 Gansu rug, hand knotted wool, Western China, 19thC, good pile, ends expertly rewoven in China, This piece must be related to Ningxia rugs and has the colors, handle, and attached interlaced selvages we expect to find in Ningxia rugs, but with a different weft structure. The use of a mixture of ivory wool and cotton in the wefts is also interesting. Fu dogs are used for the two medallions, sometimes called a lioness and her cub, soft fruit red with a yellow border, rose, apricot, and shades of blue $975.00
