#5135 7" x 7 1/2" Antique Papago Redware pottery water pitcher, Papago Indians (Tohono O'odham Indians), ca. late 19thC, red slip tempered with mica and sand, the core is black, probably due to organic material used as temper, (organic material is a polite way of saying manure), a thick utilitarian piece, but in a shape that would have appealed to Soldier's Families around Tucson in the Arizona Territory, or sold at the San Xavier Mission to raise money for the Mission, mostly smoothed rim fold, very good condition $350.00
